FrittsPhoto » Website http://blog.frittsphoto.com The blog of photographer Justin Fritts from Denver, CO Wed, 18 Apr 2012 04:18:27 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.3.1 New server stuff again http://blog.frittsphoto.com/2012/01/31/new-site/ http://blog.frittsphoto.com/2012/01/31/new-site/#comments Tue, 31 Jan 2012 08:25:11 +0000 Justin Fritts http://blog.frittsphoto.com/?p=366 So life has been crazy, as per usual, business is going well, my day job, married life, keeping the house in order, learning to bake bread, I’m not sure how many more random things I can add to this list but I think any adults out there can definitely understand what I’m talking about.  Because of this I decided it was time to redo my website.  I just don’t have the time to code my own galleries, worry about free space on the server, troubleshoot when something goes wrong with the downloads, worry about links being incorrect and because of this I’ve moved the photo part of the website to Smugmug.  This is something I considered doing a long time ago but just couldn’t rationalize the cost, well now I can.  Now I’m able to just click Publish out of Lightroom and post photos immediately without worrying about coding, broken links and all that jazz.

I hope it isn’t too radical of a change for everyone but I think once people get used to it they’ll see it’s just as good or better than the old site and I can spend more time taking photos and blogging about my photos, my experiences and my knowledge hopefully with that free time.  I look forward to hearing feedback from people about what they like or dislike, feel free to tell me all about it and if you find any broken links, tell me about those too.  Thanks everyone, more blogging to come.

Onward, u2-web.com hopefully will do better for me.  I moved everything last night and hopefully all is working.  If something isn’t or you find some broken links please email me or comment on this post.  Thank you, hopefully all the web woes will be solved!

So, first things first.  I sat down and crunched all the photos on my laptop tonight.  They are now all on my server except the ones I still need to work.  Yay!!!  To all my friends I am creating a personal, private area of the website.  It will be password protected, I can separately protect galleries but right now once you are in you are in.  Link will be provided along with a username / password, probably through Facebook.  Some of the photos are a year old and I was just so lazy that they sat on the laptop waiting for editing and uploading.

Tonight, done!  At least once the desktop stops crunching.
